Zhejiang University is a prestigious institution of higher education with a long history, located in Hangzhou, a famous historical and cultural city and scenic tourist destination in China. Qiushi Academy, the predecessor of Zhejiang University, was founded in 1897 and is one of the earliest modern colleges and universities founded by the Chinese themselves. In 1928, it was named National Zhejiang University. During the War of Resistance Against Japan, Zhejiang University relocated to the west and operated for seven years in Zunyi, Meitan, and other places in Guizhou. In the autumn of 1946, it returned to Hangzhou. In 1952, when the national colleges and universities were adjusted, some departments of Zhejiang University were transferred to sister colleges and universities and the Chinese Academy of Sciences. The main part of Zhejiang University that stayed in Hangzhou was divided into several single discipline colleges and universities, which later developed into the original Zhejiang University, Hangzhou University, Zhejiang Agricultural University and Zhejiang Medical University. In 1998, four universities with the same roots and origins merged to form the New Zhejiang University, embarking on a new journey to create a world-class university. During General Secretary Xi Jinping's tenure in Zhejiang, he personally contacted Zhejiang University and visited 18 times to provide guidance. He made a series of important instructions on the reform and development of the university and outlined a grand blueprint for building a world-class university with Chinese characteristics at a high level. Over the course of more than 120 years of educational history, Zhejiang University has always adhered to the fine tradition of "seeking truth and innovation" as its motto, taking the world as its own responsibility and truth as its basis. Gradually, it has formed the common values of "diligent learning, moral cultivation, discernment, and steadfastness" among the people of Zhejiang University, as well as the spirit of "embracing rivers, inspiring truth and virtue, opening up things for the people, and building our country".
